What is blepharitis?
Blepharitis is an inflammatory disease of the eyelids affecting people of all ages, but more common in older age groups. It usually affects the eyelid margins making the eyes feel sore and gritty, and can recur regularly or become chronic. There is rarely any disturbance to vision in the early stages.

As there are different types of blepharitis, there are different treatments. There is no real cure as all types can recur under certain conditions. But each type can be controlled by regular eyelid hygiene, according to the cause.
Warm lid massage is also beneficial which can be achieved with a heat pack applied to the eyes with gentle massage.
